Public rubbish bin at bus stop
Reported via desktop in the Public Litter Bin category anonymously at 08:52, Fri 4 October 2024
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6550252.
There is a public bin at the bus stop outside number 94 eden park avenue. Foxes get into this bin every night and pull out all sorts of rubbish. I know there is little that can be done about foxes but is there a different type of bin with smaller access which could be placed here instead to reduce the access by the foxes. Pictures taken today but this is happening very very often, thanks.

Unless it is fox proof I hope it isn't replaced. There have been zero issues since it was removed, thank you. Unfortunately this bin is used by people who dump whole household bin bags in or next to it. It is rare to see a bin like this in a residential road, they only seem to appear near shops, there wan't a bin there until the last few years. Attached pic is of another bin on the same street with the same issue this morning. The rubbish ends up all over the pavement and street.

I perfectly understand the above complainants point of view, .but some waste receptical is needed in this location, as I foresee an increase of dog mess and discarded poo bags. If it was being abused by a local resident, as I strongly suspect, ... perhaps it could be located on the corner of Eden Park Avenue and Stanhope grove, ..... for a trial period ???
Also, if the bins were emptied sooner, there is less chance of foxes and birds pulling out the contents. Screen-shot of possible site above. Thank you.

May well be a local resident but we've seen people drop bags off from their cars too! Reality is that there are more doo poo bags on the pavement when the bin was there as the foxes remove them from the bin regardless of how full the bin was. Since it has been removed, zero mess on the pavement and street and no dog mess or dog poo bags. And no requirement for the locals to go and clear anything up!

Hi there, this bin has reappeared today. I can see another case stating they had been told the bin had been stolen. I believe it was removed by the council as per this case. It is exactly the same bin, see pics and will create exactly the same issue. Today the bin outside #6 had multiple bags ripped open by foxes. I was under the impression this bin had been removed and would not be replaced.
The street has been clean since it was removed with no rubbish or fox or dog mess for residents to clean up. I really hope the bin being delivered today is an error and that it will be removed again. There is no reason for a bin like this in a residential street with no shops nearby.

Surely there must be a suitable bin that is Fox, crow, seagul and idiot proof that the council can utilise ?

I personally don't think it is needed but if there is one which foxes can't attach then fine. In the 15 years we've lived nearby there was no bin for 10 of them. From memory it arrived during covid. The street, weirdly, is much cleaner without the bin.

Please empty this bin. It has been over filled by someone putting household waste in it, and it is now overflowed onto the pavement.

Pics from 26.11, similar issue the day before. Dog poo bags, pizza boxes and general rubbish strewn over the pavement and drive for the resident. Someone has picked up some of the rubbish during the day. As stated before, the street is cleaner without the rubbish bin. People dump all sorts in or next to this bin. Please can it again be removed.
The only other spot on the street with a similar issue is next to the other bin outside #6.

Hi, again. Pictures from 30.11. Almost every day there is new rubbish strewn around the pavement. If there isn't an animal proof bin please can this bin be removed. There is no need for a public bin like this on a residential road. It just attracts people dumping household rubbish and dog mess bags. It really isn't fair expecting local residents to tidy this up.

Another day, another mess. Loads of dog poo bags, household rubbish, taken morning of 3rd dec. Didn't get pictures from yesterday. This is just some of the rubbish, there is more in bushes along the pavement. One of the residents must have cleared up yesterday's mess. Again, it is not fair to expect residents to do this.

I believe this was attended to on 09.12 as the bin was in a different position when I passed it on the way back from work. The bin, although not half full this morning still had mess strewn around it, about 4 dog poo bags and various other bits of rubbish.
This problem is not going to go away as long as the bin is there. Still don't understand why it needs to be on a residential street with no shops nearby, it just causes more rubbish on the pavement and in the street and leaves residents cleaning up.
Not just me, I know other residents feel the same but many don't know this portal.

I tidied this up for up this morning, see list below of rubbish. Dog Poo bags Nappy bags Take away containers - polystyrene, cardboard Alcohol cans, coffee pods raw meat sup[ermarket packaging Plastic bag of household rubbish
All of the above I have bagged up in my bin bag and put in my rubbish bin, if i put it back in the public bin it will end up back on the street, pavement and/or bushes.
It goes on and on and on. As stated previously, for 10 of the `15 years we've live on this stretch of road there was no bin here. The street is cleaner by far without the bin.
Please, please remove it. It is not fair to expect residents to have to clean up this mess.

The frequency of emptying of the litter bins on this road has been increased to respond to the demand. The road will be continued to be monitored.

Hi there, since this update 8 days ago today is the 4th day when rubbish has been strewn around the pavement. The other days the bin was not full and still the rubbish made its way on to the street. This morning we've got a domestic bin bag, dog poo bags, microwave meal containers, raw chicken containers and more - clearly household rubbish, not street rubbish. And an over flowing bin although to be clear the foxes get rubbish out of the bin even if it isnb't full. Same happens to other bin further down the street near #4. As has been mentioned time and time again it is not right to expect residents to keep clearing up dopmestic rubbish that people leave in (or next to) this bin. This morning I saw parents navigating their toddlers round this mess. So much of the contents of this bin are household rubbish as shown by the black bin bag in the picture.
Simply increasing the frequency of collections won't solve this problem.

16.01 Bin was emptied i believ on the 15th, morning of the 16th with the bin pretty empty this was what it looked like. The frequency of the bin being emptied does not make a difference, as you can see. Note the black bin bag, this bin is continually being used to dump domestic waste. This was tidied up by residents. Again.

17.01 And again this morning, no black bag but domestic waste (food packaging eg raw chicken boxes) and dog poo bags. Bin is 2/3s full and not overflowing again showing the frequency of emptying does not solve the problem. Please remove the bin, residents should not be required to clean other people's rubbish from the street.
2nd pic is of the bin outside #4-8, same issue with rubbish strewn about.

Hi, again. This bin has still not been removed, 2 weeks after the update saying it will be. It has been full since saturday. My neighbour cleared a loud of rubbish on saturday and I did the same yesterday. The picture is from 815 this morning.
Please remove it asap, thanks.
