Bin needs to be returned

Reported via mobile in the Public Litter Bin category anonymously at 14:33, Thursday 10 October 2024

Sent to Bromley Council 1 minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6575957.

There was a litter bin in this location which I had requested last year. Since the roadworks on this corner, the litter bin has been removed and not returned. Please return this public litter bin urgently.

  • Since the removal of the bin that was previously placed there, the general state of the street has improved. There's no longer litter strewn across the it, no fly-tipping or pests being attracted. There's no need for a public bin at this road.

As a residential area people can dispose of their litter or dog waste in their own bins, responsibly. Or alternatively there's plenty of public bins near St.Geoege's Road car park and Beckenham Green.

  • There is most definitely a need for this litter bin to remain in this location. There is not another single bin on this entire stretch of road, if it is expected for people not to litter and you expect people to clear up after their pets then there NEEDS to be a bin! Otherwise littering will happen, simple as that! It is the same all over, public bins being removed and taken away, whole roads and areas with nowhere to put litter. Ridiculous

  • 'Residential area' is completely irrelevant, if non-residents are walking that road or route! It is not a private road or a cul-de-sac. Not everybody using this road is a resident living on the road. It is a public road, a public pavement, so requires a public waste bin. Simple.

  • There has been zero need for the removal of this bin. Prior to the works on the road that Bromley council instigated and sealed off the bin, there was no issue with collection of rubbish, no issue with pests or any other such problem. There has also been no flytipping as I walk past the bin every single day. The only times rubbish wasn't collected was when the bin was sealed off by the yellow barricade during works.

There are no bins the entire length of the road which is a major walkway into Beckenham and Beckenham Junction railway.

If the council is prepared for depositing of rubbish on the street instead of the bin, then keep it the way it is.
