Safety Hazard. Unstable Temporary Plate
Reported via mobile in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 13:11, Tue 7 January 2025
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6945084.
Two temporary plates are being used where the public footpath has been eroded. One side of the plates is now only supported by a thin rotting timber. If this breaks there will be a catastrophic failure. The plates will fall into the brook. And someone might fall with them. A bank repair is urgently needed. Perhaps Gabions filled with stone to retain other fill.

Just how long is this investigated going to take. Are consultants making a fortune out of this? Just speak to the Friends of Sparrows Woods for volunteering to assist. Provide either gabions and materials, or perhaps some materials for a reinforced earth bank, or simple boarding and hand installed ground anchors. Our you will be investigating an injury. If so the council will be negligent - as had amble notification and then opportunity to fix this.

9th July Bromley Council reported that a contractor had been notified. What was the action that was requested? There appears to have been no physical reinstatement of the eroded bank? Has a very expensive consultant not written a report yet. The Friends group will fix this. Just give us the materials. Suggest stone, gabion baskets. Then contractor can just tarmac and sign the reinstated footpath off.

Ok just read through the long thread. 25th August has been set for the repair. The writer will again check a week or so after this date. It is important that this done before potential heavy over-autumn)winter rain causes much more erosion
