Sticky residue from public tree planted on pavement
Reported via mobile in the Tree Requires Pruning category by Paula Scurfield at 10:48, Mon 19 May 2025
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7588437.
The tree planted on the pavement outside 12 Bevington Road, Beckenham, BR3 5LD, has been dropping a sticky residue on to the pavement for the past few weeks. I am 77, have Parkinson's disease so am liable to fall. My 80 year old husband will be discharged from hospital today or tomorrow following a fall. I believe the residue represents a public hazard to residents.

Bromley will only undertake works to a tree for an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue. Please note that as outlined in our Tree Management Strategy Trees – London Borough of Bromley
Council will not prune or remove trees in relation to the following: • Branches overhanging property boundaries or buildings • Lack of light • Where a tree is thought be too tall, large, or old • Interference with solar panels or satellite, TV, or other media reception • Branches and/or limbs in physical contact with telephone wires or power wires • Leaf fall • Fruit fall • Shedding of small twigs. Nor will we remove leaf and branch debris at the base of a tree which serves to protect roots and protects the tree from lawn mowers, strimmers and dogs • Problems associated with pollen • Excreta caused by insects or birds • Obstruction of the view from house windows, gardens, balconies etc
The situation will be reviewed cyclically as part of our programme of tree condition surveys and safety inspections.
