Temporary Lights are badly synchronised - risk of accidents

Reported via iOS in the Utility Works and Temporary Traffic Lights category anonymously at 09:29, Wednesday 21 May 2025

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7598597.

The temporary lights at the Chinese Roundabout are very badly synchronised. The traffic from Hayes Lane is still passing through for some time after the lights from Wickham Road have turned green. This is consistent, not just the odd driver. It nearly led to an accident this morning when only 3 cars got out from Wickham Road. It also led to one lady undertaking and then ignoring the red light and just judging a gap to drive over to Tesco. Very dangerous.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately there isn't the council or the workers on site can do if drivers are ignoring the signals, this would be an enforcement matter for the police. We can confirm the signal timings are checked on a regular basis with averages of 20-30 vehicles going through per phase when used correctly.
