Car parked prohibited place for many days
Reported via mobile in the Abandoned vehicle category anonymously at 19:27, Saturday 5 July 2025
Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7814215.
The car has been parked for many days, at the corner, in a dangerous place. Additionally, it’s parked over double yellow line and has even been issued a ticket, however, it doesn’t seem like anyone is coming for it anytime soon. There’s proper parking bays just steps away from where the car is parked, and all neighbourhood know that it is prohibited to park there and tickets are issued, so it makes the situation even more strange.

We have investigated this report and found the vehicle to be taxed; a taxed vehicle is a strong indicator of an interested party and therefore the vehicle is not considered to be abandoned at this time and no further action will be taken. You can check the tax status of a vehicle online via: https://www.gov.uk/ check-vehicle-tax. Insurance or MOT issues should be directed to the Police as Bromley do not have the statutory powers to deal with this type of offence.

The council should do a more thorough investigation. While you state that only because the car is taxed it means that the car is not abandoned. The police came over yesterday, they found that the car was actually stolen and it has not been removed. So yes, the car was abandoned by a thief in a dangerous situation. The council should always pay attention to these cases to avoid situations like this one https://www.mirror.co.uk/ news/ uk-news/ gatwick-airport-horror-body-found-35354285.amp where the car stayed with a body inside for moths!
