Road embankment requires some TLC

Reported via desktop in the Grass Verge Cutting category anonymously at 21:36, Fri 3 October 2025

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8250159.

As you emerge from under the railway bridges over Crofton Road heading NW, and in front of the Renault Garage are in dire need of attention. It looks as if the whole lot has been treated with weed killer to keep it in check but that has just killed all the vegetation off and the soil is now getting washed away onto the road. It is full of debris and rubbish and needs to be sorted. As a result the drains are also blocked, I will log that under a seperate reference. Apologies again for no pic, I will try and update.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. The issue of the any debris or loose soil will be passed to our street cleansing team to manage any loose debris or soil impacting the carriageway. The land itself is mostly unregistered, but we will continue to look at whether there is any potential remedial works that could be undertaken to alleviate this issue. NLM. 22.10.25.

  • Hello. I continue to cycle past this embankment a few times a week. The branches and the like come out as far as the roadside and are curently without eaf. Once they start growing in the spring they will be growing out over the road forcing us cyclists further out from the edge. The foliage there could really do with being severely reduced while you have the opportunity. There is also a lot of dead/broken branches that need removing before they end up in the road. Regards and thanks

  • As noted above this embankment is unregistered land and is not maintained by Bromley Council. Where there is an assessed direct impact to the highway, options to address those will be considered. This has been referred to LBB Highways team to assess and action where/if appropriate. Thank you. NLM. 22.12.25.

  • Thank you for your comments. At this stage, there is considered to be no direct impact on the highway; however, the area will be reassessed should circumstances change. In the interim, the carriageway will continue to be swept in accordance with the established street‑cleansing schedule. NLM. 12.01.26.
