Pathway substandard

Reported via desktop in the Public Right of Way footpath category anonymously at 11:33, Sunday 8 February 2026

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8865319.

Hi Bromley Council,

When will the park in Havelock be completed by being properly tarmaced? The state of it is shocking, it becomes water logged during rain, as a result so most of the parents pushing a pram on it cannot use it properly, you have to go round the puddles but you can't walk on the grass becuase the ground is also too water sodden. If you try and walk on wooden edges that is too danagerous as well as being too prominent and in places broken and a trip hazard. In the summer this path is just grit and pebbly so again difficult to push a pram on. The surface needs to be tarmacked properly. This path also should have been planned better I see its unfair that Whitehall has a proper path well designed running around the park and which Havelocks path should of had also. This really needs to be resolved now as this path has been part finished for a few years now.

  • We are continuing to investigate and working to resolve this report

  • Thank you for contacting the Council regarding the condition of the path at Havelock.

We appreciate you taking the time to highlight your concerns about accessibility and the impact of wet weather on the usability of the route, particularly for parents with prams and other park users.

At present, due to financial constraints, the Council is prioritising works that present an immediate health and safety risk. While we recognise the inconvenience caused by the current surface condition, full resurfacing works such as tarmacking would require formal design and planning processes and are therefore not currently programmed.

The location will remain under review as part of our ongoing maintenance inspections, and any hazards identified will be addressed in line with our safety-led approach and available resources.

Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention.
