Open-top bin

Reported via desktop in the Overflowing litter/dog bin category anonymously at 23:51, Wednesday 8 April 2026

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9259583.

We live opposite the green space on Belvedere road and note a workman often attends to litter pick from the area surrounding the bin, however ultimately the problem persists and the litter in the bin is reachable by animals (I assume foxes or magpies), with the contents being carried out of the bin and onto the neighbouring green area. It's a mild frustration and eye sore, but I just wondered if a closed top bin could be installed to replace the existing bin and hopefully remove the issue altogether, while saving labour hours for the street cleansing team!

Appreciate the consideration.

  • Thank you for your enquiry regarding the open top bin at Palace Square.

We are in the process of updating the old style open top and dog waste bins, with the closed top dual use variety, in parks and green spaces across the borough.

We are prioritising the replacement of faulty bins, where there is damaged, or they are unrepairable. The open top bin at this location is currently still of sound construction and is still operational.

The bin is on our schedule for replacement and we will endeavour to replace as soon as reasonably possible.

    State changed to: Closed
