Ring barked trees.

A Id verde contractor today ring barked several trees on Belmont Lane with a strimmer. Unless the council policy has changed, a protective ring of growth is supposed to be left around the trees to prevent damage. Ring barking weakens the tree, leading to disease and loss of tree. Please can contractors be reminded about this please.

    Idverde workers again ringbarking multiple trees while strimming this morning along Belmont Lane, opposite Edgebury Primary Schoo. Obviously all relevant teams have NOT been spoken to as per previous comment on the same thread. A ring of protective grass is to be left around trees as per council policy.

  • Thank you for your additional comments. We have spoken to our ride-on mower operatives to take wider circles around the base of trees and to not drive over surface roots. Please note, this tree will be fine and will grow material to cover the wound.
