Overgrown tree obscuring traffic sign – Tregony Road, Orpington

Tree growth and overgrown branches from the Orpington Hospital side are obstructing a traffic sign on Tregony Road, Orpington. The vegetation is partially covering the sign, making it difficult for drivers and cyclists to see clearly, particularly when approaching the junction. This could create confusion and presents a potential road safety issue. Please could the tree and branches be cut back to restore full visibility of the traffic sign. Location: Tregony Road, Orpington, adjacent to Orpington Hospital.

    Further update to FixMyStreet reference 9436242.

    More than 28 days have now passed since Bromley Council advised that the responsible party had been notified and that further enforcement action could be taken if the obstruction was not removed.

    Unfortunately, no remedial work appears to have been carried out. The vegetation continues to obscure the traffic sign and has grown significantly since the original report. Branches are now extending beyond the hospital fence line and encroaching onto the public footway, reducing the available width of the pavement by approximately one third.

    This issue now affects both the visibility of the traffic sign and safe pedestrian access along the footway. The obstruction has become noticeably worse since it was first reported.

    Updated photographs are attached showing the current condition.

    As the vegetation is affecting a traffic sign used by road users, I would be grateful if this matter could be treated as a road safety concern.

    Please could the Council review the matter and provide an update on what enforcement action has been taken, or is now proposed, given that the 28-day compliance period has expired and the obstruction remains unresolved.
