Blocking of Multiple Parking Spaces Outside 36 Bloomfield Road During Building Works

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction to Highway category anonymously at 09:15, Friday 15 May 2026

Sent to Bromley Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9455932.

Works are currently taking place outside No. 36 Bloomfield Road and several parking spaces have effectively been blocked off for at least the past couple of weeks using bins, barriers, spoil bags and construction materials.

At times this has taken up the equivalent of 3–4 parking spaces on an already heavily parked residential street, causing significant inconvenience to residents and visitors.

There does not appear to be any signage explaining:

What works are being carried out, who authorised the parking suspension/occupation of the highway, whether permission has been granted by the council, or how long the obstruction is expected to remain in place.

There are also no visible temporary parking suspension signs or any clear indication that this section of the road has been officially authorised for contractor use.

Could you please confirm:

Whether permission has been granted for this level of road/parking obstruction, whether the required notices/signage are in place, and when these parking spaces are expected to be returned to normal public use?

  • Still an issue. Can this be addressed or can we have signage advising about the disturbance and associated timeline. Been an issue for a month now. Information on display would be great.

  • The parking places continue to be obstructed/ reserved for contractors work. Please provide an update on signage? Clear information on the timeline of the disturbance is necessary

  • Venue attended Friday 19th JUNE no obstruction was evident at that time. A previous attendance involved words of advice to the builders.

Posted by Bromley Council at 10:44, Monday 22 June 2026

  • Space blocked most if not all evenings and preventing locals from parking overnight in order to allow for contractors to use the parking space in the morning. Simply requesting a timeline at this stage if enforcement of rules and regulations cannot be applied. Please advise when the work will be completed and the parking space available again for locals in the evenings. There are no signage on display

  • LBB unable to provide a timeline of when building will be complete as not an LBB project. An officer will reattend in the coming days to reinspect and speak with builders.
