• Thank you for your report. The pond is manmade, constructed with a concrete liner, and is fed by rainwater and surface run-off from the surrounding landscape, including the High Street via a pipework system. Due to this setup, the pond is particularly susceptible to drying out during periods of low rainfall. The Council continues to explore grant funding options for improvements to the pond, in relation to the de-silting works, however recognising that there are challenges at this site, primarily as it is rain fed and not connected to a wider river, there are fewer funding opportunities in environments like this. In terms of wildlife, idverde maintains a watching brief over the area. Fortunately, low water levels at this site are not currently considered to pose a significant issue. In recent years, the pond has not supported any fish populations, and waterfowl tend to relocate temporarily to nearby locations such as Glassmill Pond, situated at the lower perimeter of the park.
