• Thank you for your enquiry. It is sad to see the tree has been vandalised. Trees are living organisms and it would be detrimental to the health of the tree to attempt to remove it using harmful chemicals, brush or further paint. The graffiti will natural fade over time given it is exposed to the elements; UV rays from the sun and precipitation (rain).

• This tree has been inspected and is not considered to require remedial works at this time. Bromley will only undertake works to a tree for an identified health & safety or highway obstruction issue. The situation will be reviewed cyclically and any required action will be addressed within a future works programme.

  Hello. Other trees nearby have had graffiti painted over (see photos), and previously reported graffiti on trees in High Broom Wood has also been covered. Has there been a change in policy regarding the treatment of graffiti on trees?

• Thank you for your enquiry which has sought input from the grounds department. From a tree perspective, we do not remove graffiti from trees as to attempt to cover up or remove would be detrimental to the health of the tree which will slowly discolour and fade naturally over time exposed to the elements. The grounds maintenance team no longer use paint on the trees as it is harmful for the trees. In all cases of anti social behaviour, this should be reported to the appropriate authorities by calling 101 or reporting to: Wickham | Your area | Metropolitan Police | Metropolitan Police so that they are aware of the issue and take appropriate action.
